Welcome aboard the starship Mercury!

"Why are we fighting? We're Starfleet. We're explorers, not soldiers." -- Ensign Danby Connor, Operations Officer - U.S.S. Shenzhou

Not for a hundred years have the brave men and women of Starfleet experienced the horrors of war. It has raged on now for over six months, and the Federation is holding the line thanks to the heroic efforts of the U.S.S. Discovery and her crew. Whilst Discovery has taken much of the burden of war on its shoulders, the remainder of the fleet stands alongside her to defend the Federation and its people from Klingon aggression.

One such vessel is the U.S.S. Mercury, a newly christened Cardenas-class starship commanded by Captain Vin lek Sholorn. In an effort to maximize the Mercury's potential, Sholorn has assembled a diverse group of individuals to join him on his mission, including some fourth year cadets from Starfleet Academy. With the best people available under his command, Sholorn knows that the Mercury will do its part in the conflict with the Klingons so that Starfleet can return to its primary mission of exploration.

Every war has its heroes. This one isn't any different. Join the Mercury today and be a part of this historic time period. The stories told here will speak of the Human condition and how Starfleet and the Federation overcame insurmountable odds to bring a brutal enemy to heel.

Captain Gabriel Lorca said it best -- "Don't you want to help end the war?"

» Mission Update (July 2018)

Posted on Wed Aug 1, 2018 @ 6:30pm by Captain Vin lek Sholorn in General News

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the first mission update. I plan to do these every month to keep everyone up to date with what's going on in the mission. July was a very good month for us as we completed eleven posts. Well done! I'd like to see us do better in August. Fifteen sounds like a nice number. All the posts that have been done thus far have been excellent. We have some really great writer among us.

The Story So Far...
It is seven months after the Battle at the Binary Stars. Commander Vin lek Sholorn met with Rear-Admiral Gorch on Earth to discuss his future. Sholorn was promoted to Captain and given command of the U.S.S. Mercury, a Cardenas-class starship. Gorch also informed him that construction of the Mercury needed to be complete in two weeks. Recruitment of key personnel began immediately. Sholorn met with Lieutenant Commander Eryv ch’Azaarhir (who he rescued at the BatBS) and offered him the First Officer Position. Zaar accepted the promotion. From there, the two of them assembled the remainder of their senior staff and got to work on getting the Mercury space-worthy.

Mission Stuff
As stated in the mission notes, the Captain will be at Starfleet Headquarters from December 29, 2256 to January 5, 2257. From January 6 to January 11, he's going to be aboard the Mercury. So if you need to report in to him still, those are the times and settings.

Right now we're working on that big joint post that's going to start the shakedown cruise. Once we've completed it, we'll be receiving a classified message from Starfleet Command with our mission orders. So look for that!

Player Of The Month
Congratulations to Nirak for winning Mercury's player of the month award. Both Steve (Zaar) and I have been really impressed with your writing and activity thus far. Keep it up! When I have my computer back, I'll make a nice little award thingy for your bio. I have something in mind, just don't have the means to do it at the moment.

I think that's about it. If anyone has any questions, send me a PM! Otherwise, have a good month everyone and get to those posts!

Hey folks!

So, in the hope of recruiting a couple of more people before we get started, I'm going to give you guys another week to do any pre-launch mission posts. Starting on Saturday the 28th, we'll be jumping in with either a mission briefing or the shakedown cruise. Maybe both. Steve and I have to discuss things and write a couple of posts. If I have any further information to share with you guys I'll make certain to pass it along!
